I've seen some previous discussions on this but not a definitive answer...

I need to paint a metal garage door (approximately 20 years old) which is starting to flake in parts. The previous discussions seemed to dismiss Hammerite and suggest using Zissman 123 Bullseye as a primer instead. But what paint would I use on top of the primer? Also, the existing paint is black, and I'd like to replace this with a similarly dark shade, so is a white primer appropriate?

    Thanks in advance.

The correct shade undercoat followed by your chosen gloss colour.

Thanks. Does it need to be specific type of undercoat/gloss?

No, Dulux Trade High Gloss will do the job.
