Best thing, Mr Melvin, you can actually install this yourself, saving a bundle on BG's prices (it's legal don't ya know) Walter will be back shortly to advise you exactly how to do this. It's perfectly safe too... BTW, don't try to install it when you've been on the Remy. ;);););)

    Hi Guys.

And Dave "bonny lad" I missed your previous comment about FOOTPRINTS.
They were a tool of the trade in my time.
Like a BIG pair of pliers/shifting spanner that fit all the usual Conex
and Eclipse fitting. Yorkshire were used then but I remember they were brass not copper.
And had a hammer in olive before the blowlamp went on it. 4 inch I mean

I don't know if Eclipse fittings are around now.
But you put a Nut & a tapered olive as it was on the pipe.
Then a metal tapered "drift " was hammered into the copper pipe,
The fitting had a taper matching the tapering of the drifted end of the pipe
and it all tightened up great.

I worked on the old Wills Tobacco factory in Heaton/Newcastle. ( that is now posh flats)
There were 22 plumbers on the job from our company.
In passing I remember 102 painters on site. It is a big place.
Some of the services were 4 Inch copper pipe and those were drifted out for the
Eclipse fittings just like the 1/2 inch 15mm
The style was to grab an 18 foot length of 4 inch copper pipe. Insert the drift that
was maybe 12 inches long 4 inches plus in diameter. Steel and damn heavy.
Then 2 of you charged at the RSJs ( roll steel Joists ) supporting the building to get
the end of the pipe drifted. LOL

Could you imagine the cost of that now.
Not a bit of plastic in sight. A skill I had without any training was lead burning.
I loved doing roofs on old churches and cathedrals My "master" plumber Les just got
big holes it the lead. But with sheet lead dressing he seemed to just talk to the lead as
he tap tapped away and it seemed to just form its self. Magic.

Sorry to go on, but its good to reminisce.
I went on to be part of an open heart surgical team in circa 1962 for 15 years.
    And heavily into cardiac pacemakers.
New systems were all a bit diy but now blood in the pipes not water. Well still heat exchangers
    3 jacket's Water-blood-water. worked well.
I had a version of the Eclipse fittings made in stainless steel polished like hell for
the by-pass pumps. They were sold on . I never got a kickback lol.

Looks like its going to be a Intergas, I meeting local rep next week.

Thanks for the birthday cake, a glass of Remy and a big piece of it went down well.

I am not sure if my level or humour in this chat is ok.
    But what the hell

    Take care

Well I would not dare try it on my own.
The grey matter still works the tools are still in the workshop.
But my wife of 55 years last week would chase me.
But hey I would not dare mention it.
World war 3 would break out Lol.
Today I have just fitted 2 new security PIR lights.
I am still happy on a double extension ladder but I spend more
time saying " I am OK " to her,
    Know what I mean.
    Thanks for the chat.

    Name is JOHNNY ok
