Wasn't sure if this should go in Painting or carpentry headings?

How or can grease marks from door hinges be stopped? Or wot can be done to help reduce it.

    Graphite powder!

Brilliant stuff for lubricating lock cylinders, but not hinges.

I never said use it, just that, that is probably what it is, as black line under the hinge, very common as a problem, a good lubricant is furniture polish, it doesn't stain or leave nasty marks, also good on draw runners.

Never greased or oiled a hinge......its Metal rubbing metal dust. Leaves a black sooty mark next to hinge
