Drill holes through CLS and steel, bolt CLS to steel.

Yeah,I agree mate, but if the OP ain't got access to get a nut on,then what? As I said before, if he can't give us a clue, then we can't help. :(

Drill a 9mm hole and tap it.
I know what you mean, DIYers both underthink and overthink their problems.

I had to fix some board to a steel and used a tap and wrench. its just takes a bit of time to get it done. But also that means getting the tools, and i didn't want to use cheap ones; so i had to search about. Even getting the starter hole drilled needs some decent kit. Part of the hidden costs of taking on some projects.

  8. Not easier to use small coach screws into the CLS through simple 'oles in t'steel?

And don't forget StixAll if you want it sooper-permanent... :)

Self drilling hex head, but really depends on the thickness of the steel and timber.

    More info.

Steel posts basically support a roof. I want to close the area off. With feather edge run braces 1 inch think across the steel to take feather edge. Height 8ft width 3 metres

I was thinking I would have to pilot into the steel then use some sort of tapcon steel fixing. Thanks for replies
