The 'social attitudes' survey chust released seems to indicate ever increasing acceptance and tolerance of issues such as same-sex marriage and abortion. Even Catholics have moved strongly on these issues. What does this suggest? Well, as with most issues of basic morality, it's the human beings wot drag the church's pitiful *** into the civilised world, and not t'other way around. Anyhoo, must try and track down a newly released book - Hitchen's 'Mortality'.
Oi, who are you calling "shaven"? And, I don't want to get all politically correct, but we prefer the term "ape" now.
The same survey also found that.... ((((((((76%))))))) Want the UK out of the EU. Just thought that deserved to be shoehorned in somewhere. Thank you.
is that a true figure based on what every country in uk voted added together or is that an average or a statistic?
It's the British Social Attitudes survey: http://www.bsa.natcen.ac.uk/ They give a few thousand people a questionnaire about social issues (how they view sex before marriage[1], benefit fraud, stuff like that) and then adjust (weight) the answers given to better match the population as a whole. The way they calculate the statistics is fairly consistent between years, so it's designed to give an idea how attitudes change over the years more than accurate percentage snapshots. Imagine you have a thermometer, but you're not sure whether it's accurate. You might be wary about saying the temperature is exactly 22 degrees, but you could be fairly confident whether it was getting warmer or cooler. [1] CCTV?
I didn't see that figure in the report[1] Where did you get that statistic from? Not that it matters. I believe that there was an extensive and rigorous study conducted sometime last year. [1] Brexit chapter link: http://www.bsa.natcen.ac.uk/media/39149/bsa34_brexit_final.pdf
The BBC gave a synopsis of the findings, the 76% came from there. They did mentioned something about 'less control', 'staying in' or some other such nonsense, so I omitted that bit. As you said though "it doesn't matter now anyway".
DA, if you look at history you will see that the 'Church' were behind a lot of academic achievements throughout history
