    Hi
I'm installing 2 induction hobs side by side I want to butt them together so looks like one big hob. Would they need an expansion gap as most of the glass doesn't get hot ?

    Cheers

Don't know is the honest answer, but if you leave say 2mm...then put a carefully applied bead of coloured silicon perhaps...

Yes I agree, silicone is flexible so would be able to manage any of the expansion. It would still be best to leave a small gap in between the hobs.

Not sure about how it would handle heat though.

They will be fine. Any expansion can dissipate in the opposite direction. Assuming they are not fully recessed into the worktop.

If you left a tiny gap it'd be hard to keep clean. Big gap or no gap.

    Thanks all
It says don't use silicone under any circumstances. I've worked out cleaning you can pop up one of the hobs as they are not permanently fixed
My thoughts were that they would push to the outer where a 5mm worktop gap is
I will be take the chance I think
