Guys, I have a job to do that requires 18mm MDF door stiffening.
2x Sliding Doors are 800mm each wide sliding from a top rail. In a bottom rail groove.
2300mm long. The MDF has a slight bow forming in it & it requires straightening & stiffening to stop it doing it again.
    Any ideas.
    Thanks.

Sospan posted in a thread about a similar problem suggesting this product https://www.hafele.co.uk/en/product...tV6m4fQ==?MasterSKU=000000410002260600040023#
Will that do what you need?

    That looks expensive.
    Something simpler required.

Was thinking about a U shaped aluminum channel ?? can also act as an edge protector & stop.??

I've had luck before now using an aluminium L section rebated and fixed into the back of the door which then doubled as a handle although this only works on up to 3 doors at a time, two sections need to be used one finishes flush to the face of the door so as to not snag, the other then overhangs by a suitable amount to create the handle

    Possibly.

As long as it's put along both edges of the door, when it's only put on one edge it can sometimes put a twist into the door

I assumed he meant both edges, also a decent gauge alloy.

Need to be a bit heavy-duty to straighten and not bow with the door!

As Will... said Hafele actually sell a door stiffener and straightener system. Works quite well and is available at trade prices

3/8 thick angle is usually enough, because the doors are top hung it doesn't take a lot to remove any bow

Do you mean 'are the doors painted on both sides' ?

Of course, you may not mean this at all !

    Chips, Yes painted both sides.
That was not my job anyway just to cut & fit them.
Its only bowed Just a tad after she painted them.
So my answer to her was to strengthen them to stop the bow.

Think I'm going down the way of, Ally Channel on both edges of both doors.

Next time, if there ever is, is MDF with the laminate finish. They don't bow, & no need for paint. Simples.
