Advice please on wall mark, possibly mould

On taking over an old flat around 9 months ago, there was an unsightly circular mark about 1 cm in diameter on hall wall (plaster covered brick). When redecorating at the time, I sanded it down that area and repainted with the rest of the wall.

However, the mark has subsequently reappeared and grown to around 3 cm in diameter. It feels waxy to touch and looks damp (but not black), although the area where it is located is well-ventilated and dry, and with no possibility of water ingress.

Could this be some kind of mold coming through the paint? I would be grateful for any advice on cause and treatment.

Block it out with Zinsser BIN

  3. Possibly chust some impurity in the plaster - a piece of iron or similar.

Gently corroding away until the whole wall crumbles.

    Block it with BIN.

  4. Yeah never used that particular brand brand but some form of stain blocker is the cure for that problem

Cut it out and refill. You will be repainting anyway so you may just as well dig it out.
