I'm looking for advice regarding making and installing a polished concrete worktop. I'm currently I'm just looking into this as I know its a lot of hard work but I think the pay off is worth it. I've read a few articles online regarding the process but I thought I'd just ask here in case anyone has given it a go.
Very popular on Grand Designs If you like the industrial look ask a steel fabricator to quote on making a stainless steel worktop, you would be surprised how cheap they are. Copper is another nice alternative but pricey. I am trying to get my wife to go for a crushed glass worktop rather than the very expensive granite she wants http://www.ecofriend.com/recycled-glass-countertops-eco-friendly-kitchens.html
Hi Deanomc, I've just posted a question on this myself: http://community.screwfix.com/threads/concrete-worktop-questions.185573/ What did you decide in the end? I'm considering doing this using products from this company: https://www.concretecountertopsolutions.com/ You cast the worktop in place (so no joins or heavy lifting). They supply edge forms, a system whereby you can easily float a plastic mesh in the cebtre of the slab (you need some kind of reinforcement) and additive to make it easy to pour and stains and sealers. Here's the video showing the process: It's this or a quartz composite worktop which whilst would be double the price, fitted, so half the hassle! Despite potential downside of practicality of concrete, they do look fantastic. D
Quite a few books on making concrete countertops, might find them on Ebay cheap. https://wordery.com/concrete-counte...NoaHN5VkE9PQ&gclid=CJDvhOae9tECFYky0wodYdoFbg
