Do you know nothing about history? This is probably the most ignorant thing you have said on this topic.

I'm almost certain that, Trump doesn't have a private army of 'brown coats' to enforce his will.
I take it that that's what you were referring too?

Too suggests that, Trump could replicate such an act, in America, in this day and age, is beyond ignorant!

It was "In a democracy it's highly unlikely that people would vote for a dictator"

I may be wrong but I think that Trump has never held any kind of public office.
Even he has said that he would have to tone it down a bit if he was elected.
But someone said that in a crisis he might tend to overreact to the situation.
Probably just urban myth but there are quite a few "hawks" in the US military and he might be the type to be somewhat "gungho".
Hopefully he will not get in.
If he does and steps out of line there are about five intelligence services who might do something about it.

Is btiw's quote in the Bible? My Google search says "John Donne (1572- 1631).
Where does religion come into this?
I don't think DA will be asking the Lord anything.:)

So, in your opinion, it is likely?
A simple yes or no would suffice.
But, please elaborate as to why, if you wish.

Or, just a guy that's prepared to take the rough with the smooth, in exchange for massive wedge of cash. ;-)

Lets look into our recent past, how dictators have been elected in Europe in the last 100 years? Do the research, learn a little, google will help.

  17. Even in a democracy, when a financial crisis occurs - as history has shown us - people will vote for extremists. For fascists.

They are raising their very ugly heads all over Europe, and here in the UK.

What will help counter this is a larger democracy - like the EU. I have said time and time again that that is one of the 'good' things about it. As long as you are part of the EU, there are certain basic human rights that cannot be removed.

  19. Longs, what happened in the Balkans, barely over a couple of decades ago?

  20. I'd like to say I understood your comment. But I don't.
