So I managed to persuade the other half to get a smallish square (8x6) of astroturf for the garden.

Can anyone recommend an online supplier? Phil the paver, what was the name of the one you got? And how do you lay it? We have loads of gravel we've been trying to get rid off in a part of our garden, can we put that at bottom layer for the astroturf?

So I don't need to brush sand over the turf at the end? Seen it in some videos

Unknown, I never over sanded my turf, it still looks as good as the day it was laid, we have lots of children running around on it every day.

Some types of astroturf are actually a special bend of Rye grasses etc, these are grown ONLY in the shadow of the moon, these sorts do need sand brushing in regularly, but need less water because they were germinated/cultivated in the semi dark.
