Attaching a wood frame to an RSJ?

Builder started installed bi folding doors but made a mess of it. To keep a long story short... I need to attach the wood frame to the RSJ above. How would I do this? It's about 120mm from the frame to the start of the RSJ. I was thinking a 150mm HSS bit but unsure of what diameter of bit. And unsure of what screws to use? Links would be much appreciated.

Basically the frame isn't attached to the underneath of the opening. And an RSJ is directly above. image.jpg

Try posting it the right way round.

Basically you should have a stile either side of your door liner going between the sole plate and the ceiling plate with a rail going across to fix your door header to. If you don't someone has cocked up big time and you need to get someone in.

I don't think I have that. The builder that I did employ did screw up with lots of other things so I had to sack him. The new joiner didn't know how to attach the frame to the RSJ.

Could I not drill into the RSJ with an HSS bit and then use a self tapping screw? Just look for pointers...

IMHO you would have to rip that wall apart so much just to bodge it that you may as well start again.
Also to my eye you're looking at more like 600mm than 150mm.
    Is this another stupid windup?

    How's it 600mm?

I'm looking for constructive suggestions, I am thinking maybe I am not going to get it here.

    It's not a windup

What is the distance from the top of the door to the ceiling?

    800mm

What's the ceiling got to do with it?

Where do you think the RSJ is?

About 20mm above the door opening

Then either you don't know what you're talking about or your builder is a complete idiot.
