It's a 4" internal stack & orangey in colour. It rises just a few inches through the corner of the kitchen floor, before it connects to a plastic solvent-weld coupling & continues upwards in plastic.

It's partially boxed in & fairly difficult to access. It looks like plastic, but feels denser when touched. Is there an easy way to tell? There's probably enough room to hold a lighter upto it for a few seconds, to see if it smells like plastic - but surely there's got to be a more sensible way?!

    Thanks in advance folks! :)

Give it a good old lump with a hammer, if it shatters its clay, if it bounces off its plastic!

if its a solvent weld joint it can only be
plastic and you should be able to tell
anyway with a light tap to here the
    diffrence plastic underground drainage
    is orangey in colour

    lol !

So is it external plastic then?..

I thought it probably was - seeing as it was glued to the grey plastic coupling above it.

I need to connect a 32mm waste pipe into it. A regular strap-on boss will do the job won't it?

    Cheers again
