    Fellas ..

After a liitle advice for sticking some MDF skirting in a gym that I'm building , one wall is 2.5m wide & has mirrors floor to ceiling so obviously no fixings in this area , what's the best product to use some kind of grip fill both surfaces are dead flat & I can fix a batten off the floor to hold in place whilst the glue material go's off

Silicon, stixall, mirror adhesive, take your pick.

Been converted to using expanding foam now...much stronger bond!

I use the insta stik expanding foam, it's great for skirtings, fill all the voids you get at the bottom where the plasterers stop short.

    It's on to glass.

Ha ha...no, not really, as long as you're sober. Mist wall with water, carefully apply a 10mm bead, press against wall and clamp for half hour. Will be solid :)

  8. First, make sure you've painted the backs of the 'board too...

Wanna a simple, MickyMouse method to stick this to glass?

Cool - use carpet grip tape.

It's around 50mm wide anyways, so chust run a single strip the full length of the 'board and in t'middle - where you won't see it in the mirror's reflection when you look down from yer squats.

Yes, I know it's MM, but it should work.

Probably best to use a low modulus silicone for the glass area. Nonails for the rest.
Low mod silicone is flexible and doesn't set rock hard like gripfill can, so bit of safety for glass.

    Mr. HandyAndy - Really

If it's a gym and it gets very warm the tape may let go, I've had problems with that in TV studios.
We use a foam tape at work to stick glass to wood which never lets go, I'll ask where we get it from.

Doubt the tape would work, will end up falling off.

  12. Not if you used Chippie's foam tape :p

    (It wouldn't dare... )

  13. Ah, I had a roll of that stuff a while back - pretty darned permanent. And the extra thickness allows for a less-than-perfect surface.

    WE stuck a 6M x 1M x 6mm glass on unsupported using 25mm tape around the perimeter.

  20. Er, I'll be up in Scotland at that time.

(Checks distance - only 500 miles.)

    Um, make that Iceland...
