    Hi,

Thinking of getting an angle grinder and have pretty much decided on the:

    Bosch GWS 9-115 AVH

Just wondered if anyone has used it and how they rate it.

    :)

I have a Bosch green model. I have owned it for well over 10 years now, no problems. Mine came with a case.

A lot of it depends how you chuck them in & out of the van & how they are looked after

I have see many a power tool replaced just because the brushes are worn down, which was the only thing wrong with them, I have rescued loads from sites put in new brushes & sold on, can be quite profitable

Never had a Bosch one, always used Hitachi ones, very good fit the money, less than 100 with a hard plastic case.

If my one ever broke I would be Hitachi also. they have offer for a 41/2" and 91/2" grinder at the moment.

I brought a cheap 91/2" grinder from argos for (£39), how wrong was I.

The blade retaining nut cannot be undone, I have tried using grips to undo, but no amount of force will undo it.

Got a Makita 5" grinder had a siezed retaining nut, removed it by cutting it in half, & just over half of it's depth with a thin cut metal cutting disc on another small grinder.
Then with a few taps with a cold chisel & hammer, it easily came loose.

Also have a Bosch 4.5" here, had it must be 20 years, still going strong, also have my favourite 5" Makita GA5021 it's unusal as it has a back handle, like you get on a 9" grinder.

Mine broke today, Lent it to someone and it overheated and burnt out.

The enameled wire wingdings on the armature have burned out. so looking for a new one.

Go for Bosch blue this time.

    And 'NEVER' lend tools.

    Bosch GWS7-115 around £60.
    Bosch GWS-11-125 around £100, a nice 1100w 5" grinder.

Still prefer my Makita GA5021,around £100 or less, as it has a paddle handle for more control.

I will think I will go for a 5" grinder this time. There have been many time when the 4.5" hast had the capacity, but using a 9" grinder would be too big.

Suppose I can still use up my old 4.5" discs in the 5" grinder?

I still use 4.5" discs in my 5"angle grinder.
If your using Knotted Cup Wire Brush, I find my 5" grinder with the paddle handle is more controllable.
