1M of unsupported worktop will droop.

How heavy are sprogs nowadays? If he's right, the brackets he suggested are rated at 200kg each. That's two and a half times my weight (excluding tools in pockets of course) - per bracket. The breakfast bar would snap in the middle before the brackets gave way - if you could fit five of me on it.

I supposed you could use a piece of 18mm ply as a backing for the worktop, should stop the droop.

I'm seeing this as 1.5M of worktop coming put of the wall only supported at one, thin, end.

I'm seeing it as a 400mm wide shelf 1.5m long.

Then that's not a breakfast bar.

If it is just a shelf then there's no problem.

2 brackets at 200kg each is 400kg divided by my weight 80kg (excluding tools) is five. That makes me 55. I've just checked and I am 55.

No worries only that would make me 40kg - so six and a half. Those were the days.
