Gosh - thanks all All I know about that bend and straight pipe, Mr Ha, is that it doesn't come apart unless you drop the stove - I had to make the internal fireplace recess part first, then reach over it and lift up the stove whilst sis slipped in the hearth part underneath. Then the main part of the breast was plasterboarded over. Yes, it's a false booby, Master. A very enjoyable, very rewarding project. All sis's scheme - I think she got what she was after; it's a modern build, but with a cottagey feel.

A modern contemporary stove with no breast would have looked much better. They are more expensive but without the breast then about the same installation cost or less.
