Brush, Roller or Pad for best finish to wooden cladding?

    Hi,

I am having to paint some new wooden cladding and was just wondering what you would recommend for the best finish? I would normally just use a brush but am paranoid about brush marks.

I will be using Sikkens Rubbol BL Stura paint, with a primer first.

I have already done the prep, just wanted to know your thoughts on best finish!

    Cheers

Even with a roller, you'll will most likely need to lay off with a brush.

Found Hamilton Prestidge short pile felt 4" roller superb for painting doors.

Cheers. Normally I wouldn't be that bothered but there is a lot of this stuff. I was looking at 4" short pile mini roller.

There a thread by Dr Bodgit, he used same product for his shack.

Can't find his thread, poke him/pm & find out what brushes/roller he used.

In that case treat yourself to a Wooster 'Pelican' paint scuttle, our hosts sell them together with the inserts, you won't be disappointed. ;)

And very good it is, wish the do liners in larger packs though.

+1 on the Pelican. Liners last ages and can be swapped in and out with colour changes

And I found you can jet wash them clean, if using emulsion/water base paint.:)

Found you can buy liners in 54 per pack.

You won't get any shorter or finer than a 4" felt roller! :)

One of the best tools I have ever bought, in fact so good I purchased a second one and about a dozen liners that as you say last for ages. It's correct title is a Wooster Pelican Paint Scuttle, our hosts sell the together with the liners.

They start to distort too much if you stack more than three at a time - they're not quite a design that truly 'nests' (can't think of the proper word for that atm)

Didn't even need to lay off, so good was the finish on the doors with the Hamilton roller.

I'm putting this paint on planed wood, only done the primer so far but using a reasonable brush and no marks whatsoever. The paint is great.

Also look at the Hamilton prestidge pure synthetic brushes, bought a couple to replace a couple of misplaced Purdys, & they are cheaper & just as good as the Purdys, well impressed with them.

Just bought 2" and 1" purdys but using lesser brushes for outside work.
