Building Loft Hatch

hi diy, if you buy those aluminium ladders for loft hatches from the big name sheds then you get all the hinges and latches with it. also make your panel out of blockboard. this is laminated strips with an outer veneer. 2 sides have the end grain and 2 have the running grain. cut the board so you screw hinges into running grain so you get a good fix.

personally i prefer to nail doors into the linings, it avoids packing out any hinges. better still you dont need hinges at all.

but its a bug**r to use the doors

It's not really about scoring brownie points. More expecting people to put up or shut up. Not a lot on here admit when they are wrong. And that's sad. Because we all like to learn. If they don't admit they're wrong, it appears that they have not learned anything. I feel sorry for them. andy if you think you are right then you carry on. it is all in black and white. my problem is that when debating with a child it wears you down in the end and i cant be a*d now. also you dont sound like a know all there do you.. dear oh dear im not getting sucked in again. andy you tootle off with your boyfriend and claim your "victory". i hope your ego is unharmed. by the way i wouldnt dream of undoing screws and not tightening them up properly again as they will work loose over time.
