I have a Hager consumer unit in a private house which is buzzing. it stops when I switch off the downstairs lights circuit. Any ides ?
Perhaps the lighting circuit is overloaded, just a thought or get a sparky to check the connections or change the MCB for a new one to see if this makes it less noisy.
Assuming that you've checked the soundness of all connections - including Neutrals, and assuming that the buzzing doesn't happen when there's no load connected: Then this is likely to be an internal fault with the MCB. This is quite common with bottom-of-the-market cb's, but most unusual with Hager devices. It's usually a loose - vibrating linkage between the lever and the short-circuit component. This problem is often amplified by the presence of toroidal-type transformers for light fittings or similar 'dirty' loads. This being the case, the MCB should be renewed. Lucia.
My own Hager board RCBO's buzz on the lighting circs with a Dimmers on them. Lower the Dimmer bigger the Buzz!
We had a party at our house one night. Everyone agreed the place was buzzing. It were that good. tha knerrrs
