Can you tile over tiles?

We've gutted the kitchen in a property we've purchased and now set about removing the white wall tiles - managed to get about a dozen off but geez, these are a nightmare to remove!

So my question, is it possible to tile over tiles? If so, are there any special requirements?

    Cheers

Just make sure the tiles are clean and free of grease (wash with sugar soap or similar) then go for it!;)

Done it loads of time myself and never had a problem.:)

Only time you might have a problem if you are hanging very heavy tiles and the surface under the tiles is flimsy or lightweight material, but normal tiles should be fine.

Failing that, use a Kango to remove the existing tiles, it will make for an all round better job.

    Thanks for the replies guys.

Asbestos!!! Yikes, I never gave it a thought!!!

We certainly have our hands full as the rest of the property also needs a lot of work :)

Thank God for this forum :)
