I need to temporarily connect to an old cast iron soil stack to allow some drainage to be moved.

Q1. Can I cut through it with an angle grinder and diamond blade, or is a different blade best?
Q2. What is the likely external diameter of the pipe and can I get an adaptor to take it from cast iron to PVC for the temporary connection.

    Thanks as always

  2. You will need to fit a metal cutting blade to your angle grinder.
You can get a cast iron to plastic timesaver coupling, pipe will probably 4".

Yes to grinder, as long as the diamond blade is suitable for cutting metal.

Diamond blade would cut it. Depending on location, may have to cut out a notch in pipe first if using 4.5" angle grinder as blade wont read in one go.

Once cut a suitably size flexseal can be used.

  5. Would use one of the flexible connectors for a temporary job,but in my opinion, as a permanent job it just seems like a bodge.
