   Hey guys, I've got a wall i want to batten and board,this includes a chimney breast. Can i just screw 2x1 along the wall/chimney breast and batten/board, or do i need to insulate behind the boards. Where the chimney beast is open can i dot and dab boards to the side so it looks straight?will the boards get damp?. Please help with step by step guide

   Do you intend to have a working fire in there?
   
   If not the chimney pot should be fitted with a cowl, to provide ventilation. A air vent should be fitted in the fire opening.
