I have had two quotes for a new combi boiler and really don't know which one is best...

I understand the higher the KW the better the boiler..

In a three bedroom house one bathroom

    the two options are

    1 - Vaillant ecotec plus 832
    2 - Worcester 34 CDI

the Worcester has come in 300 cheaper 8 years warranty
    Vaillant is 10 years warranty

the Worcester has higher kw ratings..

would be grateful of any advice

    Valiant.

Easier to service, had Valliant must be 25 years un various houses, never had one break down in all that time.
Currently have a 824 here, again it's never broke down in 8 years.

Higher the KW the better the boiler for hot water flow is only true, if you have a good mains water pressure.
Warrenty is 7 years on Valliant now, someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

Where is Dave,Vaillant Advance partner can off a 10 year warrenty apparantly, I did think this had changed.

Thanks for reply, yes the valiant Ecotec plus 832 comes with 10 year parts and Labour and have been quoted 3100 to install to a different room remove old pipework from old system boiler and also includes the NEST to control remotely.

The worcester 34 cdi is a 8 year parts and Labour and standard wireless controller.

I was thinking about going for the vailant until had seen the higher the kw the better so know unsure what to do

My only comment after having an Intergas Combi installed 2 months ago. ( first experience with a Combi )
Its 36/30 and I was soon convinced you need the higher KW rating for the Domestic side.
More so for a bath situation.
As to which to choose I was in that situation as well . Not sure if there is a " Right choice " but we will see
in due time with the Intergas.
My old system ran for 35 years with just a couple of thermistors changed at £8.00 each.
Cost in Newcastle of new system was £3k.
That was original tanks all removed all radiators taken off the wall and hosed out in the garden.
One new radiator supplied and fixed and another supplied and replaced smaller one.
Took 3 days and they really did graft.

    Enjoy.

An Intergas EcoRF is what you need.

  8. And you're going for a combi for what reason might I ask?

  9. Have to say I'd be tempted by the Intergas next time.

I have no personal experience of them, but there's a cut-away model in a local Builders Merchants and - man - it's pretty straight-forward inside there.

It looks impressive. Impressively simple = less to go wrong.

    Hi DA,

Well that's what I thought. I got to strip one down in the back of the Intergas
    northern reps car.
That heat exchanger is a work of art. And it has 2 ins and outs.
One for CH and other for DHW.
There is a net video showing the HE being developed. Its a treat to watch.
    Only time alone will tell.
I think the only surprise I got with it was.
There is no room to bring pipes into it on the backside.
So they add another section to allow this. It does make it look bigger than the
    pictures in the sales info.
But that's par for the course I suspect now a days.
    I don't notice that now

    Time alone will tell DA.

    Take care,
    Johnny M

a 28kw combi boiler should be fine for one bathroom

Even a 25kw Vaillant ecoTEC Plus 825 has a hot water flow rate of 10.5ltrs would be ok in a 3 bed house with one bath.
Whereas Vaillant ecoTEC Plus 832 hot water flow rate of 13L, but these figures are dependant on a good mains pressure.

    MMMMMMMMMMMM
Well I have only 6 weeks experience with a Combi.
And it only took me a few days to be glad I went for the bigger end
    for the DHW.
Its not much dearer in the total budget.
But I bow to someone that may have a lot more experience than me in
    this "Which Combi quiz"
But I am sticking to my guns. Get a BIG one for DHW.

My Bath, Pass the G&T please.

Agree, I would also go with the larger boiler for the HW flow rate, but if you haven't got good mains pressure, then it's pointless.

    Hi,

Yes I see that as a problem in some areas maybe.
But if you have the KWs, they maybe in time the pressure
will catch up as pressure improves.
Is that not guaranteed if we jump ship with the IN/OUT situation.
Its one of the only things that has not been promised .Higher Water pressure.
Maybe the groups will read this and it will become another subject
    to lie about.
Also can we have National Service back please
    For the politicians as well.
AIRMAN BORIS or LANCE JACK CAMRON... Wonderful.

    He He I like also.
