    Hi everyone,

We have just started renting a small paddock which has its' own mains water supply. We double checked the details with our local water board and they have confirmed that the paddock has its' own water supply which is currently live and they have provided us with the serial number so we can locate the meter under the ground in the road.

However, at the moment, we are unable to use the water supply as we literally have a tapped off end of blue mdpe pipe coming out of the ground in the corner of the paddock. We would like to have a tap on one of the fence posts and connect the water supply up to that but are unsure how to go about this. Feel a bit confused by various info that we've read online and so we'd be really grateful if someone could explain in really (!) simple terms

    a) what we need to buy and
    b) how we connect it altogether

Many thanks for reading and thanks in advance for your help.

Assuming the pipe is near the fence post and is a 25mm pipe.

How do you tap into the live pipe?

  4. Turn it off at the water meter.

  5. Do not forget the insert for the mdpe pipe.

You use a clamp to stop the flow and add your tap.

The one with the lock would be a good idea, stop kids turning it on running up a big bill.

    hi
its always a good idea to dig a hole next the the new tap, fit a below ground stop tap and box.

on cold frosty days you can isolate the supply, avoiding expensive burst to the above ground pipe and tap.

have a look there may be one fitted already?

    regards
    peter
