Consumer unit replacement

    I need to replace a rewirable consumer unit but there is not enough room to fit a new metal unit, what are my options?

    What size is the space available, how many circuits you covering,domestic I presume.

    It is a 12 way Wylex board existing but there is no physical possibility of fitting a amendment 3 box in the space available.

    It's as niggled me for years domestic CU & their shape, a lot to be said for the commerical distubution board shape for domestic CU use.
    Done jobs years ago, were a narrow width CU would make job easier due to restricted space.

    The annoying thing is that a plastic box would fit easily

    Build a fireproof enclosure around the existing, then you can use a plastic one.
