Can anyone tell me the best way ( as dust free as possible ) to cut a internal doorway into circa 1976 breeze block wall. This is to make the attached office accessible from inside the house. Keeping dust to an absolute minimum is a must as some of the electronic equipment cannot be removed but will be covered as best as possible.
Go & hire a 'Allsaw or Arbotech' wall saw about £30+ vat a day, depending on your area, very little dust. Why not put up a temporary wall office side made from plastic sheet (dpm), use batten to secure it the the walls & tape the edges & ceiling. http://www.hss.com/hire/p/allsaw http://www.jewson.co.uk/tool-hire/c...ting-chasing/products/2321/arbotech-wall-saw/
You could also 'stitch drill' using say a 10mm masonry bit. A bit slower but if you take your time can be pretty neat. You could also get someone to hold a vaccum as you drill.
Tis true, but in another 100 years time, the hammer and bolster will still exist, when all this so called hi-tec stuff has long gone.
God, no. Those things are absolutely dreadful; barely made a dent on old 1960 concrete blockwork. I ended up taking it back to HSS who were kind enough not to charge me. It might work ok for the lightweight thermalite blocks, but then again you can cut those with a teaspoon.
