I've had the same problem with my screws but got the backplate off and changed the element. Got some replacement M4 x 10.5mm screws but there doesn't appear to be anything to screw the screws in to. Tried longer screws and they don't bit on anything. Anyone got any ideas?

No - they actually fell out and there was only 2 of the 4 that should have been there present. Think they were held in by rust. If I take the cooker out and take the back off will that help. Was thinking of using high heat silicone glue as a temporary fix, but that will probably give me issues if and when the element goes again

Can you not use these and self tapping screws.

Not sure they'll work. I can put them on the back plate but that's not going to help as there's nothing to screw in to on the oven back - just holes

Try using some lubricant, oil or something and then try to open. Or maybe you'll just have to cut the screws. Try to use a plier, maybe that would help.

If you look at the date of the post, the OP has probably bought a new cooker by now.

I think I understand now Phil. I can clip the U Nuts to the back plate and screw all the way through in to the back of the oven?
