Would it be OK to use decking screws to fix the uprights to horizontals of a fruit cage I'm constructing? It is to be made of 50mmx50mm (approx) pressure-treated wood. I'm thinking that decking screws are resistant to corrosion and self-tapping, so could make it all a bit easier/quicker.
No reason why not, but you might still need a small pilot hole regardles of them being self tapping, as wood may still split. Might be able to use these. http://www.screwfix.com/p/turbogold...flat-head-4x50mm-pk200/54343?_requestid=67996
Another option is dry-lining screws. I used these a few years ago when building a fence (I'm rubbish with a hammer & nails ) & it's still fine, even though the weather round here is a bit salt laden at times.
Drill holes anyway, helps to get your screws sunk into wood, rub a candle on the screws , go in much easier Mshcah .
Own up whoo nicked the candles http://www.southwalesargus.co.uk/ne...g_baskets_to_carry_their_haul_away/?ref=fbshr
