Are triple glazed windows really more economical than double? Anybody can confirm that on a bill-base? We wanted these http://mmtimberwindows.com/mmtimberwindows/weights and we're not sure of the glazing options.
Triple glazing will soon ben the norm in new houses. http://www.homebuilding.co.uk/2015/03/22/does-triple-glazing-make-sense/
If the triple glazing is anything less than a 44mm unit, it's not worth the extra money. Good a-rated double glazing has an overall u-value of between 1.4w/m2k & 1.2w/m2k A 36mm triple glazed unit is approximately 1.1w/m2k. 40mm is aprox 1.0w/m2 I have Residence9 (100mm 9 chambered frames) & 44mm triple glazing my overall u-value is 0.8w/m2 which is passive standard. So a well fitted 28mm dg system is the way to go if you can't get a 44mm system. Also a 28mm unit with 6.8 laminated external & 4mm toughened internal, has better sound reducing capabilities than a triple glazed unit. Lee
