Hi, We are having new appliances fitted and the electrician/kitchen fitter is asking me to buy a plug to fit on the induction hob which did not come with a plug and has a total load of 7.2kW. Is this the correct way to connect the hob ?
I'm just a diy'er but are you sure this guy is an electrician, or is he the kitchen fitter, who does a bit of electrics (badly) Don't let him connect your nice new shiny hob to a 13 A 3 pin plug top (if this is indeed what he has in mind)
Surely Diversity will take care of the problem the OP is asking about ?? (although I'm not sure what a street dance group know about electrickery?
It's common in commercial kitchen for moveable bits of kit, but not for a fixed hob in a domestic kitchen!
Diversity doesn't really come in effect with an induction hob. The manufacturers instructions will probably say so too. They work on full tilt switching on and off depending on what range you've set on the 'volume' knob. So if you set it to max, or a few hobs to max, that 13A fuse won't last long. And the 1.5mm flex on it will get quite warm as well to say the least...
