The fence in my back garden has seen better days. It's a solid fixture, but it just doesn't look nice. The previous owners painted it black and there are green moss / mould bits on it, especially at the bottom where it meets the grass.

I'd like to give it a fresh lease of life and re-paint it. However I'm not sure how easy (or not so easy) it's going to be to cover the old black paint and get red of the green stuff that's growing.

I want to change it to a mid / dark brown kind of colour. So what's the best way to go about changing the fence colour and making it look a bit nicer?

Look at Bedec Barn Paint, it can be applied weathered bitumen, tar varnish or creosote timber.

Pressure wash the fence first though to remove the crud!;)

  4. All good advice.

Once a dark and possibly non 'garden/fence' finish has been applied, then you'll struggle to get back to a lighter shade using a further 'fence' coating.

Bedec will stick to pretty much anything, tho', so should be a safe bet.
