Filling sandbags....?

    Hi all

    What is the best sand for filling sandbags or is there little difference? Apologies for the noob question...

    I use sharp sand if it's not too gritty, but a lot of peeps prefer building sand.

    Sand is easier to shape.

    If they are for flood defence, I would have thought the finer the better.

    Soft sand will absorb more water than sharp sand and become denser, so in theory more water proof/tight.
