I need to take a feed directly from the hot water tank, what fittings do I need and how do I go about it?
    Any advice please.
    cheers.

Tee off from the hot water outlet on top of the cylinder.
Make this T to be the first branch before the existing feed to taps.
Surrey flanges and Essex flanges were recommended but nowadays as long as the first T is to the shower this is acceptable and no noticable change in flow will occur if someone runs hot water from another outlet.

    thanks for the reply plumbob
would it still be ok to do this even though the shower manufacturer says that unless there is a 1m gap betwwen the top of the hot water boiler and the bottom of the cold tank you should take a direct feed from the hot tank.
(the tanks are beside each other)

The cold water storage tank must be above hot water cylinder or you will not get hot water from any outlet.
For power shower you will also need to run a tank fed cold supply to the shower
