Yes, get down to ASDA or TESCO they're looking for shelf fillers........Many CC's like you have found gainful employment there. Cause you'll not get a job as a Plumber, Plumbers do apprenticeships son.

ignore him, he was saying the same to me last year when i was training in gas and now im taking home £450+ a week plus van and fuel etc, not bad for a starter job. just servicing boilers.
if puller had his way no one would ever learn or start anything.
as the king once sang...if i can dream!

Good on you for getting off your *** and chasing work, unlike a lot of other lazy sods. Stick at it mate and don't give up. In years to come you will look back and also down on the others with defeatist attitudes! Try yell.com to find the local plumbers in your area, then do some ringing round

yeh thats what ive been doing brid.no luck as yet though.is it only kids employers are after or do older people like myself stand a chance?

most plumbers prefer to employ a kid, cos they don't have to pay minimum wage, and can mold a young un into their ways, whereas a older bloke will need to support his family and will have thoughts of his own,

There will be some old sole trader out there who is getting too old, bad knees and back etc. who would love a free pair of spare hands. Keep at it fella and ignore the negative remarks.

Suggestion, if no one wants to give you experience start up yourself.

Put a small advert in your local paper, say you specialise in doing small plumbing jobs, get some public liability insurance, and go from there.

Don't take on anything you think you can't tackle, build up your experience with small stuff, as you get more confident you'll want to have a crack at the bigger jobs.

I know this way works............. cos I did it myself!

got to agree with dickpuller to a degree , alot of people getting draw in by pay a couple of grand for a 6 week course and sit and do exams for 6 weeks and then goodbye u are a qualified plumber ,with no experience , but you will not have your on site qualification which is the important one , and so not a full city & guilds 2, but if you did , still only a level 2 , which then gives you the right to do level 3 which is worth having , suspect dickpuller did 5 years at college like me , so is not happy when someone says they a qualified after 6 weeks , but the truth is all employers 4 which i am one ,know this , a experienced plumber with no qualifications are a mile better than a 6 week course plumber with half a qualification , but keep trying and it is hard , i worked for no pay for 2 years and then a further 3 years for min wage before i started to earn a real wages , a least what you have done so far is a start , and i hope someone will take you on and you carry on a college and get some qualifcations that are worthwhile along with some experience , but please dont, and its sounds as if you are not one of the people that do 6 weeks and think you are going to start earning a fortune , and i would not set up 4 yourself as your are now , honest it is hard with money , experience, qualifications and confidence , never mind someone in your postion but you are welcome 2 try , tony
