    Hi All
What is the correct number of teeth needed on a saw blade to cut neat mitres with a chopsaw? The blade size is 254mm

depends on what material you're cutting.

I've got oak pelmets for kitchen units, but also softwood skirting boards to cut.

60 for oak 40 for softwood.

You could always take it steady with the saw. Forcing the blade through is the main cause of scruffy cuts. A good spray with Wd40 every now and then keeps the blade in good condition

Thanks for the advice, I'll spray the blade I've got (40) tomorrow. Does the thickness of the blade make any difference?

Yep, WD40 does a good job, but watch it, as it can stain the wood and prevent your finish going on.

Best to use it after working and cleaning the blade, and make sure it's dry(ish) before using next time.

    Mr. HandyAndy - really
