I am thinking of putting up Insulated Plasterboard as mentioned elsewhere (not sure exactly where! lol) and was wondering, how many of these would i need to dot and dab approx 5 boards 2400 x 1200: http://www.insulationgiant.co.uk/British-Gypsum-Gyproc-Dri-wall-Adhesive-25kg/p/849036 Thanks
Bond 5 boards with one can of this https://www.tool-net.co.uk/p-345579...8g7DJ6pa-alOwvR6SR9F5AZNPWLLqwMuT0aAjCT8P8HAQ
5 insulated plasterboard 2400 x 1200????? Lol, 1 can, lol Anyone know on this stuff? Ta http://www.insulationgiant.co.uk/British-Gypsum-Gyproc-Dri-wall-Adhesive-25kg/p/849036
I have seen that. Was wondering how many bags of the Gypsum i would need to put up approx 5 boards? I will be using mechanical fixings too.
Half a bag/board, too be on the safe side. Depends what the wall's are like really, 2-3 bags will cover it.
I don't really see the point in having mechanical fixings when using adhesive. If the board is loose, (not bonded properly) those hammer in frame screws won't do nowt else than give you a wobbly board.
Ah, plastered and painted walls, one bag will probably do ya. Put some screws in as well, just in case! Assumed it was going onto bare brik/blockwork, my brexit!
Yep, I get that, but it's unclear whether or not they advise putting them in when the adhesive is set, or not . Once it's set, no bother whack em in, but if it's fresh, using mechanical fixings will knock all your lines out of flush.
Thats what i thought. Just watched a video where the guy said to mark out and cut your boards first, then, put adhesive up for 'all' the boards and then put boards up as one can then level them up together? He said better than doing one at a time as levels are harder to do then?
Use approx 10 bags per sheet to get a really good bond This is taking into account your liking of explosives, TNT in particular Using that quantity of adhesive, should there be an explosion, the plasterboards should still be standing. House probably not but, yep the plasterboards will be fine - possibly ........ ?
Seeing how the levels could go wrong does anyone suggest i stick with battening the wall? Like i did here: http://community.screwfix.com/threa...side-of-an-external-wall.183945/#post-1462397
2 bags should be enough KPC. The thing I've found with insulated plasterboard, and I've said it before on here, is that the boards are often cupped, so can be a pain to get a nice flat wall. Need to put 2 or 3 frame fixers per board to hold them on too( manufacturers recommendation)
Why not? This time, do away with the horizontals and have insulation straight from top to bottom in the battens?
Nowt stopping you doing it like that, but, I would honestly give the insulated boards a go. You'd have the job, jobbed, in a few hours.
