Does anyone know where you can get replacements for a shut off valve on an imperial copper pipe or should we just cut off the pipe, put converters to metric on either end and then put a modern shut off valve in the middle? We found the shut off valve under the bath when trying to fix the shower fitment which is coated with lime scale inside. It would be nice to be able to isolate the shower rather than drain the whole system but the pipe is about 7/8th inch.

7/8ths, are you sure? thats either a big 1/2 inch or a small 3/4, if its 1/2, 15 mm will fit, if its a small 3/4 you'll need metric to imperial converters like PB says,

That's what I thought Tom and went with the theory it must be 3/4inch on the basis it was supplying the bath, but you never know even us plumbers get it wrong sometimes.o_O
