I have a client that wants an inline scale inhibitor installed they have had the electric ones in the past(ones you wrap wire around) but they dont want this method any more. There's various makes out there and the ones from Screwfix all have pretty good user reviews but there's a few to choose from ranging from £22 to £44 Its for a flat with storage tanks for the cold water to bathroom and combi boiler for the heating and hot water. Any suggestions as to which maybe better please? http://www.screwfix.com/c/heating-plumbing/scale-inhibitors/cat831638?action=compare
Lol that was the comparing products link but i guess doesn't last long so reverted to main page http://www.screwfix.com/p/flomasta-electrolytic-scale-inhibitor-15mm/1436f http://www.screwfix.com/p/liff-electrolytic-in-line-scale-inhibitor-15mm/91448 http://www.screwfix.com/p/salamander-engineering-electrolytic-scale-inhibitor-15mm/60422 I dont think Screwfix do the Calmag ones but i have seen these available is there much difference between the 2?
Tell them Scale reducers and water softeners are worlds apart. Magnetic scale reducers work on the basis that scale particles are reduced in size (on an atomic scale) so that they pass through an area of applied heat with less congested, like a motor bike in a traffic jam in London, some will pass through whilst others will get stuck, but the congestion is reduced not eliminated, for this to work the scale reducer needs to be fitted no less than 1mtr from the heat source, after which scale atoms will carry on their normal operations. The cable wrap type or other reducers fitted on a cold main will have absolutely no effect to the consumer other than a placebo induced delirium of water hardness reduced achievement
