Has anyone machined the recess in the door frame to fit intumescent strips for fire doors while the frame is in situ ?
Looking at the Bosch palm router and wonder if I could use that and chisel out corners rather than replace 4 frames.
I have new fire doors and would rather fit strips in the frame rather than the doors.
    Thanks for help.

Never done it but sure it can be done a trimmer would suffice. Yes i prefer the strip to be fitted to the frame much neater.

Merman, perfectly acceptable in the door edge. Looks neat and finished as well. One slip with the gouge and it's fitting a new lining! There goes the bonus.

    Thanks for comments.
Think I'll fit in the door edge if it's less hassle and get oak coloured to match the doors.
