Hi, I have to buy some Intumescent strips for my flat. They are to big to fit in the groove, if I cut through the middle (length ways) they will fit, just checking that this is ok to do.

There are 3 different width types.. 10mm / 15mm & 20mm... you sure you just can get the smaller ones?

What's the point in cutting them through the middle... they are designed to keep the smoke out.. you cut them up & they wont work

The only Ones I could find are 15mm x 4mm which are to big. I will look for the 10mm ones. thank

Intumescent strip changed a few years ago the 1/2 hr 10mm was replaced with 15mm and the 1hr 20mm was replaced with 25mm, you can still get all four sizes if you shop around but if you have to cut it width ways to fit it's no good.
Sometimes scraping the excess paint out of the groove is needed to make the strip fit

Thank, the grove is the exact size of half the 15mm x 4mm strip.
