Ok - I have ( had ) as live / neutral to power an extractor fan ( on lighting circuit ) and switch line coming in as well. on going to connect up the live / neutral suddenly dead - not sure what's happened. is there any way around this other than running an new live/neutral feed which is going to cause a lot of damage to finished work

    Thank you

Try switching the power back on.

Check to see if there is a fused spur in circuit, could be fuse blown.

Depending upon how the cct was wired check the previous light fitting for loose connenctions.
    Check the switch.
    Don't work live.
check any screws to hold the fitting have not damaged the cable.

  5. Duke, I guess you've either overlooked something pretty obvious, or else a strange fault has developed very recently.

I'd have thought that, either way, it needs sorting properly and not just left?

As Seneca - check for a fused spur... in the roof space above ?
