    Hi,

My name is Aaron, I'm 21 and seeking work training to become an electrician in Essex. I am currently at college studying one day a week to gain a level 2 City and Guilds Electrical Installations (Construction and Buildings) qualification. For the other four days a week I work in the construction industry, in which I have three years experience. However, now I would like to specialise and work specifically in electrics to assist my qualification and further my career as an electrician. If you know of any work suitable in the Essex area please contact me so I can forward on my CV. I am very hardworking and eager to learn, I have my own transport and am willing to travel.

    willing to travel?
get yourself up't north Aaron, I watched a program on housing in Laaaandeeeen , £350/500 per WEEK average rents, Up here lad you can get a 3 bed semi for £500 a MONTH, the wages are not far behind the rates for trademen you'll get down there the only problen you might have is finding a job, buy hey, you've got that problem already,
We're all very friendly, the food's good, the beer's better and we speak proper Inglish like, so do yourself a favour and move, ;)

Your not wrong there Tom, We don't get any better pay in the south but everything is much more expensive down here. I remember when I worked for a big company and had to travel back up t'north with another of the workers from Wakefield, He thought we were soo much better off until I told him that my 3bed semi cost £250,000 and his was £43,000. He had assumed that we got paid more in the south but, we both got exactly the same wages!

yea I know that's true Chebbie, I worked in Woodgreen north london in the '70's on a shopping centre for about 3 months, I saw the house prices then and asked the local tradesmen how they could afford those prices, they had then what was called a London weighing allowance, I don't know if it still applies, but it was't much, only a few quid a week, We did't get that allowance even though we had to pay for our meals, board and beer at London rates, I gave the boss an ultimatum, get me off this job or i'm leaving, which i did

LWA is still in effect today but might be called something else or a change in pay grade to reflect it. To get it you have to be working AND living in London, not just work in London or just live in London, it has to be both.

Unless you've been offered an office job, wear a shirt and tie and get to keep seats warm it's not really worth it being on the tools down there is it?

Essex is now the next Upcoming Central London outside of London. Few has speculations that this was due to East End Gang war and choosing to live in Essex and thus follows the money, but now it a trendy area to be.
