We need a nice worktop for a German kithecn, please.
I've had in mind a laminate worktop (duropal) but the kitchen just looks too lovely for something like that.
Any ideas what should we go for within a reasonable price?
Granite, Quartz, Solid Surface... too expensive?
Solid wood - difficult to maintan over the years? Prone to chips or dents if we drop something on it?
    Any useful websites or suppliers?
    Thanks a lot in advance

  2. I reckon a really good compromise betwixt orn'ary laminate and completely solid is something like Maia.

Mum-in-law had 'Volcano' (a black quartz) fitted to her old kitchen - complete transformation.

No visible joins (well, you'd need to look very closely), durable, looks like a 'solid' top, scratches can be polished out, etc.

It's essentially a chipboard core, but covered with a thick (3mm +?) layer of the finish. Edge tape is bonded on and the edges polished - it all blends in. Ditto with corner joints - a coloured filler/adhesive is use and the join disappears when it's sanded down and polished.

Shop around - not too expensive.
