Best gu10 downlights are the ced/meridian ones from t/s by a country mile.

I like them for 2 reasons, one they step in a bit up the can making them a whole lot easier to get in the hole and two they have really chunky terminals on them, you could get 3 1mm's straight in them at a push.

Those CED downlights and these lamps

    with this dimmer

Doesn't show it but there is a rotary adjuster on the back to get the LEDs dimming perfectly. Works for me.

Not sure what the min load is but I've had them working with a couple of LEDs no probs.

I have just wired up one of the Aurao Enlite, they are quite fiddly to wire even using 2 x 1mm t&e.

I cant remember the brand I used a few years ago, may be sylvania or JCC and were easy to wire up.

If you had a lot to wire up then for the sake of a few extra quid it would save time and make things easier.

Just thought that if down-lights were supplied with wago type connectors rather than terminal block. Wouldn't cost much more to manufacture

    Hi All,

Sorry to resurrect my old thread but just to give you an update I opted for the dimmable LED downlights ref 32910 (from T/S) and the 1 gang 400W British General Dimmer Switch from S/F, there ended up being 14x 5w dimmable fire rated GU10 LEDS in total.

Everything seems okay with the installation and it all seems to work perfectly except I've noticed the dimmer switch buzzes slightly, and also I've just recently noticed the 6A circuit breaker in the consumer unit (for the ground floor lighting circuit) buzzes slightly too --- are these things to be concerned about?

    Regards
    Matt

Can anyone advise please? Is the buzzing normal?

Try using trailing edge dimmer, some dimmers may buzz with LED lamps

    Thanks Peter.

What wattage dimmer would you suggest for 14 x 5watt led down lights? will a 400w rated dimmer be okay? or 250w?

Also, will a trailing edge dimmer stop the circuit breaker from buzzing in the consumer unit?

    Thanks once again.

    Regards
    Matt

Jitender, I am looking at the Aurora Elite E8. How are they? Do they provided decent light and spread and look nice fitted?

Thanks. Where did you get them from?

Usually use Varilight trailing edge dimmers, no buzz, totally quiet.

Make sure you back box is deep enough to accomodate the switch, can't remember if I used 25mm or 35mm box.

250w would be OK, as for your buzzing MCB that may be different issue I went to a job what had this problem it turned out to be a load problem, you should get a sparkie to check that out
    Kind regards

Everything Buzz's when a dimmer is involved, even a light switch on the other end of a 2 way.

Got mine from TS, i liked the finish of the satin finish, some can look a bit cheap. Wiring is not the easiest of the ones I have fitted, and I didn't like the plastic terminal strap, it clips in to the body of the base a lot of them on other brands are metal and more rigid. It all depends on the lamp fitted, I bought a pack of daylight bulbs.
