Hi all Ply floor is not completely level, my plan is as suggested on here to use tile adhesive. So base needs to come up 4-5mm gestimate. Should I lay an even bed with 4-5mm in a square or only for half the base. Is it Easier to tap down? Silly question probably but I've never used this stuff and don't want to be pullin back up. As Im planning on silicone edges same time Any suggestions would be great.
Just follow the instructions with the shower base for levelling. Bet is says to use sand and cement and not to use tile adhesive.
Is that because the cement won't stick it? It's for my own project. So I don't have to worry about the spec so much.
Can anyone guide me on the mix ratio to do a base for the tray. It's sitting on ply. Thanks in advance
Errr - its your own project so you don't have to stick to the spec... You've lost me on that one. Just read the instructions and follow them and it will work fine - or get someone in. The sand and cement is there to level out and provide an even support to the shower base, not to stick to it. Once the mix has gone off your base isn't going anywhere. A 5:1 mixture will be perfect, add a tiny amount of Feb (not fairy liquid) to stop the mix crumbling as it sets. Seal the ply (hbp grade I hope) with a couple of coats of pva first. The ply should be securely screwed down, if it can move then your shower base will as well.
