Makita black and white vs blue

I'm sure it's been on here somewhere before and someone will probably point me to the thread, but can anyone tell me whats the difference between the Makita black and white cordless power tools and the blue ones? From what I've seen its the batteries but is there actually a difference in mechanical build quality?

I picked up my new Makita black and white impact driver today so I'll see how it goes in use.
First impressions are its pretty well built - nice bit of kit.
