Just made a quick repair to the spool, brought the trimmer from SF back in 2007.

The spool head head worn away which features a bump feed for the line.

I used an old M12 coach bolt and grinded off the stud, gorilla glue was used to glue it.

Remember not to tap it down onto slabs if they are nearby.

Lent it to someone and I think they tapped it on tarmac, hence why it wore right down.

didn't want to pay another £26 for a new head.

The metal bolt head didn't stay on for tool long. I ended up using a PVC door stop which was the right size.

Glued it using Gorilla glue and gave me no trouble for a while, yesterday it came off. Don't think I can glue another one back on as base is worn.

Think I may list it as spares and repairs. Had it for over 10 years now. Not really serviced, just changed the air filter and spark plug.

Been looking at getting a small petrol Stihl stimmer for areas I have to trim.

Been looking for one too over the last day.

Thinking of getting a Makita 18V battery one. May have to get a 5AH battery, not sure to get twin battery or single one. Trimmer needs both batteries for it it work.

Don't do large areas and seem to get the work done in 20 minutes use.

Did buy a used Stihl petrol leaf blower BG85 last year, good fun.

You gave me an idea, but sadly Bosch don't do a 18v strimmer which uses the batteries I have for their drills.:(

I can see a bare 18V Dewalt strimmer for £115 from SF, but need battery and charger on top.

Really want to go for Makita one as same platform and batteries etc. But the strimmer alone is £186.

Seen the Dewalt on FXX tools for £185 including 5AH battery and charger so working out a lot cheaper than the Makita one.

Think I may go for the single battery brushless model.

Can try it out on my 3Ah batteries and see what usage I can get before buying a bigger battery.

Tried another attempt at fixing it. Used a PVC door stop from SF.

Spool sanded on flat surface, to remove glue reside and provide key for stop.

Glued and clamped using gorilla glue.

Hope this last for this year....
