Megaflow Thermostats

I've just been to replace the thermostat in a Megaflow Direct cylinder (the one with two immersion heaters, one for peak and one for off peak)

The thermostat is one that plugs onto the terminals of the immersion heater and is made by Cotherm.

The house is 3 years old, and this is the third time the thermostat has needed replacing. The first two times the builder replaced it under warranty, but this time he refused, so I was called to replace it.

I had expected to have to order one, but when I phoned William Wilson (the Electric Centre now) they had 30 in stock!

The fact that this has failed 3 times in 3 years, and the fact they have so many in stock tells me this thermostat has a design fault if it has such a short life. At £30 a go, it's no joke.

Anyone else had problems with these?

I know that this is an old thread but we had a dual element, economy 7 megaflow installed in 2011. The company that did the install have already replaced 2 bottom economy 7 thermostats and now it has failed again. Are these things still a problem?
