New house external pipework unsatisfactory?

Hi all - novice here, just moved into a rented house and there's an issue with the pipes outside.
When the toilet is flushed some of the water (black?) is coming out of the grey water disposal pipes and these leak because they're bowed and poorly installed. In addition where the grey pipes join the main stack it is not sealed and also almost horizontal so more used toilet water spills out of the join.

I know this is a **** job (pun intended) but is it also illegal? Should the joint to the soil stack be sealed?
Also I imagine flushed toilet water should go straight out the back down the stack and shouldn't be able to wash back up out of the smaller pipes at the side.
Just want to get the correct information to the landlord.

Thanks very much for your time
    Tim

I don't know if its illegal but I reckon it certainly does not conform to building regs and that open pipework and leaks are a health hazard.

As I suspected. Maybe should get citizens advice involved if the landlord stalls

Tim,you have not mentioned if you have alerted the landlord/agent of the defects. They have to be contacted first and given a chance to correct matters.

Have a look around the rest of the property and make a list of defects, then contact your ll/agent via a written report, dont phone.

If the ll/agent is slow or does nothing, then go to environmental health.

No need to find out about building regulations, just mention raw sewage spewing out of a broken pipe.Next to that room (kitchen ?)

    good luck,

You're right, yes we've told them and will give them adequate time to get it fixed for sure. Just preparing myself should it drag on a bit too long.
    Thanks for your reply

I also want to make sure that the work carried out is of a satisfactory standard and we won't have further issues down the line

Do you know if that joint should be completely sealed or if it is ok as is so long as it doesn't leak?

    It needs to be sealed.

Are they the drains from the hand basin and bath/shower?
When you flush, does the sewage leak from the soil stack first.
Seems as if sewage is backing up in the soil stack.
